Walker Middle School Addition + Renovation

Orlando, Florida

Project Overview

Rhodes+Brito Architects was the prime architect and designer for the $30 million comprehensive campus renovation. Rhodes+Brito initial goal was to create a functional and organized campus that incorporated an existing 1960’s, 40,000 sf two story classroom building and gymnasium. Construction took place on an occupied campus. Extensive planning and phasing plans were developed to minimize disruption of the school activities. New buildings planned for this campus included a two story classroom wing, a cafetorium and a three chamber music suite. These new spaces were strategically planned to tie-in the existing campus and new front entry that enforces a strong community presence. Other Major features of this project included safe vehicular and pedestrian separation, Eco Friendly Design, Ice Storage facility and state of the art instructional technology throughout classrooms, labs and mediaCenter.
