Metcalfe Elementary School

Alachua County Public Schools, Gainesville, FL

Project Overview

Rhodes+Brito Architects designed a New 45,000SF building on the east side of campus. This meant tearing down the old buildings except for building 3, 11 and 12 while preserving the trees in the central courtyard. This new building gives access to new classrooms and a new image for the school. The clean, concise, secure building has easy way finding for supervision on the entire campus. Cover canopies connect the entire campus. The front canopy gives the school a dynamic new image and easy queuing for the parent drop off. Main amenities in each wing has, their own color with the staircase in bright and colorful while incorporating 21st Century design elements.
