City of Ocoee Lakeshore Community Center

Ocoee, Florida

Project Overview

Situated on the Starke Lake near downtown Ocoee, the newOcoee Community Center is a replacement for an existing, dated community center across from City Hall. The new facility is nearly 9,000 Sqft (8,800) and is designed to provide banquet seating for 250 persons. Rhodes+Brito was the design architect and provided programming, conceptual design, and final construction documents for the center. The City of Ocoee desired a traditional look compatible with the historic Whiters McGuire House. The Facility was designed as a Florida Victorian vernacular to be compatible with the nearby home and city hall. The center will be used for weddings, and other celebratory and business events. An outdoor covered veranda faces Lake Stark and is buffered by a new outdoor plaza for receptions and outdoor weddings.A clerestory is located in the foyer and orientates visitors to three gathering areas. The center includes a smaller meeting room for 40 people and a pre-function lobby for nearly 100 persons that faces the lake. This project cost $2 million and was completed through our continuing service contract with the City of Ocoee.
